The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino PS is a remarkably elegant and refined Brunello. Now that it is in bottle the wine has acquired even more precision than when I tasted it from barrel. Today it is extremely fresh and fruit-driven despite a medium-bodied, almost weightless style that is unusual for Pacenti. The wine reveals incredible length and a finish that lasts forever. This new single-vineyard Brunello needs at least several years to acquire the full breadth of aromas and flavors, but it is already pretty special. The PS is made from a tiny old-vine plot near the winery. It is the first single-vineyard Brunello Giancarlo Pacenti has ever produced. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2029.
