2004 Massena Epsilon Shiraz

RP 91 The 2004 Shiraz Epsilon (all from the Greenock Creek area) is a big, layered, textbook Shiraz possessing a dense ruby/purple color as well as loads of creme de cassis, peppery blackberry fruit, and hints of road tar and earth.

10 months in seasoned French oak

The aim of this wine was to reflect the single vineyard site, located on the Greenock Creek. Therefore traditional and non-interventionist winemaking techniques were utilised. Using slate lined open fermenters, this wine was on skins for seven days before basket pressing straight to seasoned French Oak barrels.

The name Epsilon is a play on the name of the vineyard owners, Aaron & Julie Southern. Epsilon, the ﬁfth star of the Southern Cross constellation, is an example of how a background star can come to the fore. Julie & Aaron love their skies which are crystal clear from down under.
